Academic gowns and attire
The Congregation is a formal University event. Graduates attending the Congregation in person are required to wear academic gowns specific to their awards.
Attire Guidelines
Academic Regalia: Wear the official PolyU academic regalia.
General Attire:
- Avoid casual wear such as sneakers, flip-flops, jeans, and T-shirts.
- Formal clothing is recommended, such as a dark suit with a white shirt and tie, or a dark skirt (avoiding mini-skirts) or pants paired with a white blouse.
- Opt for formal shoes instead of athletic or casual options, and avoid open-toed and/or high-heeled shoes.
Please exercise discretion and good sense to maintain the formality of the event. Graduates wearing inappropriate attire may not be allowed to go on stage.
For details, please refer to the AR Congregation website – Academic Gowns for Attire Guidelines, guidance for wearing academic gowns, and gown hiring information. To secure the hood to your gown, you are highly recommended to acquire a pair of gown clips from the vendor at your own cost for use.
